Welcome to the governors section!
Our main role is to support and challenge the Headteacher and the staff - the phrase often used to describe this role is 'critical friend'. We help them to set and reach targets and to strive for excellence across the whole spectrum of school life.

Currently we have no Associate Governors.
Mr Jon Brown is a governor at a local secondary school.
The Governing Body of Airy Hill are committed to providing an excellent environment for all pupils to enjoy during their time at our school.
Airy Hill governors have six Full Governing Body meetings, three School Improvement and four Resources Committee meetings each school year, these are held in the evening, normally 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
To help us in our work and to broaden the skills of our governors, we organise and attend training sessions and seminars for governors, we also attend, where appropriate training with staff members, which keep the governing body updated with changes in the education system. In our various roles as Link Governors we make prearranged visits into the school to meet with the head teacher, make class visits and talk to members of staff. We meet with groups of pupils, such as the School Council and Environmental Team. These visits help governors to monitor and understand how the school is working, improving and progressing towards its target to become an outstanding school.
